Yuji Sone

Yuji Sone is a media-based performance artist, focusing on cross-cultural Issues. Yuji has performed in numerous local and overseas festivals, such as 'Sydney Carnivale', 'Sydney Fringe Festival', 'Sydney Asian Theatre Festival', 'Rootless UK', 'The Toronto Festival of Performance Art', 'The Cleveland Performance Art Festival', 'San Francisco Sound Culture'.

In the last ten years, Yuji have been focusing on the mechanics of generating meaning, emphasising the element of defamiliarisation to create ironies and simultaneous double meanings. His work investigates the spaces across/between media and culture, mining the slippages between that reveal the gaps in language, perception, the body and intercultural communication.

Yuji holds a DCA (Doctor of Creative Arts) degree and will commence a post-doctoral fellowship at The School of Theatre, Film and Dance, UNSW from December 2003.
