Yuji
Sone
Yuji Sone is a media-based performance artist, focusing on cross-cultural
Issues. Yuji has performed in numerous local and overseas festivals, such as 'Sydney
Carnivale', 'Sydney Fringe Festival', 'Sydney Asian Theatre Festival', 'Rootless
UK', 'The Toronto Festival of Performance Art', 'The Cleveland Performance Art
Festival', 'San Francisco Sound Culture'.
In the last ten years, Yuji
have been focusing on the mechanics of generating meaning, emphasising the element
of defamiliarisation to create ironies and simultaneous double meanings. His work
investigates the spaces across/between media and culture, mining the slippages
between that reveal the gaps in language, perception, the body and intercultural
communication.
Yuji holds a DCA (Doctor of Creative Arts) degree and will
commence a post-doctoral fellowship at The School of Theatre, Film and Dance,
UNSW from December 2003. |
