Yoshio Koaze

I was born in Japan and worked over 30 years as A Film Director & Producer. I retired and migrated to Australia in 1990, then I began to draw oil paintings.

I like to paint portraits very realistically. I try to draw the life of the person who is in the canvas. I try to draw the of the person' s personality, sadness and anger. I understand my personality well when I draw a self-portrait myself. I think I'm a difficult and angrier. I would like to draw such characteristics and feelings, which may not in a photograph in the picture.

I like to paint Kabuki, too. Kabuki is well known as the major traditional dancing entertainment in Japan. I also try to draw the backgrounds of the kabuki actor who is acting and dancing. I would like to draw the actor's feelings like bravery, tragedy, sorrow, charm and grace.
