Joseph Wong

Joseph is a Japan-Mania. His initial reason for studying Japanese in high school was so that he could watch Japanese animation and read Japanese comic books in its original language. Since then, he has won the 21st Annual Japanese Speech Contest, and was granted with both the AFS Tokyo Sister-State Scholarship in 1991 and the Japanese Government Monbusho Scholarship in 1994.

He set up his production studio, Creative Engine J.O.E. in 2001 and presently works as a freelance filmmaker, specializing in projects produced in digital format. Apart from that, he also works with local and Japanese film production crews on numerous Japanese television commercial shoots in Australia. Recently, Joseph completed a semi documentary drama, "Wahori Days" which portrays the life of a Japanese working holiday maker staying in Sydney.

After a successful screening at the Japan Culture Centre, it was officially selected in the Indies Film Festival in Japan.
