Chaco Kato

Chaco Kato has been extensively showing her work which incorporates many mediums; from drawings and sculptures to installations, in galleries and outdoors space, in Melbourne, Tokyo, Paris and Boston, since 1989. Her works have been included in many group shows, including curated shows such as Entice at Mornington Peninsula gallery and Organic at McClelland Gallery. She is a recipient of a residency at the Quay School of Arts in New Zealand, the Paris Cite des International des Arts in 1992-93, and was awarded a scholarship by the French government. She was also selected for a studio residency at 200 Gertrude Street, from 1999-2001. Kato studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston) for her undergraduate degree (1989) and later obtained a Masters degree by research from Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne 1999. Kato is now represented by Dianne Tanzer Gallery, Melbourne. She also works as an illustrator for children's books. Kato is now based in Melbourne.
