In traditional Japanese celebration style, a new sake barrel will be opened and fresh sake will be shared among the guests. This will be a unique Japanese experience for forum participants.

Gleebooks will be selling books on related themes and by participating authors, as well as the CDs and DVDs of participating artists. There will also be an opportunity to get your books signed by authors such as Alison Broinowski (About Face: Asian Accounts of Australia, Howard's War) and Junko Morimoto (Big Nuisance, The Two Bullies, My Hiroshima).

There will be a sneak preview on Panasonic’s new plasma TV of the special artist archive project, which is part of the 10th anniversary and has been designed to introduce contemporary artists at the Australia and Japan interface. At the forum the audience will be able to see a short promotional video on each artist. The CDRom produced from this project will be launched in 2004 along with video documentation.

This project is designed to expand the Japanese artists directory on the Japan Cultural Centre’s website, to include Australian artists who work at the Australia and Japan interface.

The criteria for Australian artists are
(1) those who have lived in Japan for a long period
,
(2) those who use obvious Japanese motifs in their works
,
(3) those who have produced works with a specific Japanese related theme.
